Hi Gals!
Okay, I admit it, I love country music. What do you expect from a gal who attended an agricultural college? Just to clarify, I was an English major. I know, odd choice of college to obtain an English degree but if you’ve ever been to San Luis Obispo, California, you’d understand.
Honestly, my love of country music began in high school with Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks. I remember blaring “Any Man Of Mine” and “Goodbye Earl” on repeat singing the lyrics at the top of my lungs with my best friend while driving around our home town in my white Honda Civic. To this day those are two songs I can sing word for word (again, you’ll regret asking me to do so).
But from the moment, I began attending Cal Poly SLO, it was the boys of country music that captured my heart. Keith, Kenny, Toby, Tim, Alan and…OH MY GOODNESS…Rascal Flatts.
As I’ve gotten older, my love of country music has evolved a bit. Don’t get me wrong, I still love a driving around singing a good Shania tune or cleaning the house to Rascal Flatts. But, I’ve fallen in love with the raspy rock male vocals of a Mr. Chris Stapleton. Fun fact, “Millionaire” was the first dance song at our wedding. And it was my husband that chose it. I couldn’t have imagined picking a more perfect song.
Last night my husband and I attended the Chris Stapleton concert along with a few close friends. It was an awesome night to don my cowgirl fits and sing “Millionaire” and “Tennessee Whiskey” alongside Mr. Stapleton himself. Now, as much as I love country music, I must confess that I don’t have a lot of western attire. However, as always the case with style, it’s most important to feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing. So, last night, I went modern country chic in all black – black split hem flare jeans, black booties (mine are sold out but I found these similar ones), black lace top, black and gold belt, black cowboy hat, and topped it all off with a denim jean jacket and accessorized with these beautiful and fun abalone cross earrings.
